Why a photo is sideways in one place and not another
Phones often save a photo sideways plus a tag that says how to turn it. Apps that read the tag show it upright; apps that ignore it, or sites that strip it on upload, show it on its side. Turning the picture itself fixes that everywhere.
Turn the picture, or change the tag
By default the picture is turned and saved again: PNG stays pixel-exact, and JPG and WebP are saved at the quality you pick, which also removes camera details and location. For JPG photos you can instead change only the rotation tag. Every pixel and every detail stays, but it only helps where the tag is read.
Your files stay with you
The images are processed on your own device. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored, and you don’t need an account. Close the tab and they’re gone.
