Size, and what gets cut

X’s help centre recommends 1500 × 500 for header images and says that on some screens about 60 pixels at the top and bottom can be cropped. That is almost a quarter of the height, which is why the bands are shaded.

File types

X takes JPEG, GIF and PNG. Its 2 MB limit is stated for profile photos; the help page gives none for headers. For your profile photo, use the profile picture maker at 400 × 400.
