How the size is reached
Each image is tried at a high quality first, then lower, until it fits. Only when the lowest sensible quality is still too big does the picture get smaller in width and height. The list shows the quality each file ended up with.
Very small limits
A full phone photo won’t fit under 20 KB and still look like much. For small limits, pick a size such as 800 px as well; the result looks cleaner than squeezing the full-size photo.
PNG files
PNG files start on Smaller file, which lowers the number of colours before it shrinks the width and height. With Every pixel exact, PNG can only get smaller in width and height. Choose JPG if the form accepts it and you want to keep the full picture.
Your files stay with you
The images are processed on your own device. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored, and you don’t need an account. Close the tab and they’re gone.
