Which size to pick

2× suits most websites, slides and documents: it stays sharp on phone and laptop screens with dense pixels. 1× is the size written in the file, which for many icons is only 24 or 48 pixels across. Pick a width for print or for a slot of a known size; 4× holds 16 times the pixels of 1×, and the file grows with them.

Why the text can change

An SVG usually names its font instead of carrying it. When that font isn’t installed on your device, or the file fetches it from the web, the text is drawn in a stand-in font and the lettering shifts. Each file tells you when that will happen. The lasting fix is in your design app: turn the text into outlines before exporting the SVG.

Linked pictures and scripts

Only what is inside the SVG file is drawn. Pictures linked from other files or the web are left out, and any script in the file never runs, which is also why an SVG from an unknown source is safe to open here.

Your files stay with you

Everything happens on your own device. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored, and you don’t need an account. Close the tab and it’s gone.
