Turn a video clip into a GIF

Open a video, pause where the clip should start and end, and save that part as a looping GIF or animated WebP. Works with any video this device can play.

Keep clips short

A GIF of video grows fast: every second at 10 frames per second is 10 full pictures. The page makes up to 300 frames and tells you before you start if a clip is too long for the width and frame rate you picked.

GIF or WebP

Video has millions of colours and GIF only 256 per frame, so GIFs of video look grainy and come out large. Animated WebP of the same clip was 6 to 8 times smaller in our tests.

Which videos open

The video has to play on this device first. MP4 and WebM play in every current web browser; some MOV files from iPhones only play in Safari.

Nothing leaves your device

The pictures and videos are read and saved right here on your device. Nothing is uploaded or stored, and there is no sign-up. Close the tab and they are gone.
