Big files, on purpose
PNG keeps every pixel exactly, and photos are full of fine grain it can’t pack down, so expect a PNG many times the size of the HEIF. For sharing, HEIF to JPG makes far more sense; PNG is for a photo you will edit and save again several times.
10-bit and HDR photos
A PNG made here holds 8 bits per colour, so 10-bit camera files are brought down to 8 bits. HDR photos (PQ or HLG) are not tone-mapped and can look flat; export those with the camera maker’s own software.
Where it was taken doesn’t come along
The PNG copies carry no location, date, camera or other hidden data from the original. Note the date first if you need it.
Your photos stay with you
The photos are converted on your own device. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored, and you don’t need an account. Close the tab and they’re gone.
