Transparent areas get a colour
JPG has no transparency. Any see-through part of a PNG, like the background around a logo, is filled with white unless you pick another colour under Background. If you need to keep it clear, convert to WebP instead.
Screenshots and text
JPG is made for photos. On screenshots, small text picks up faint smudges at lower quality, and at 90 or above the JPG barely comes out smaller than the PNG. For screenshots, PNG to WebP usually does far better: much smaller files with crisp text.
Your files stay with you
The images are processed on your own device. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored, and you don’t need an account. Close the tab and they’re gone.
